Caryn Grimes
Caryn’s role as the Regional Skills Partnership Coordinator for the CCRSP supports the Regional Skills Partnership Managers in the delivery of the Employment and Skills Plan 2019-2022 and associated employer engagement activities. Caryn also leads the coordination of the CCR Employment and Skills Board and oversees all-important Careers related activities.
Caryn has extensive experience working in both the private and public sector and has worked across the skills landscape for over 18 years which includes leading the delivery of employment and training contracts in the field of Apprenticeships. Here, Caryn worked for lead training providers across the region and completed a number of work based learning qualifications including those accredited by ILM.
Caryn is passionate about lifelong learning and particularly the need to develop and progress young adults into training and employment. Caryn initially joined Newport City Council to drive the apprenticeship delivery programme through the Work Based Learning Academy (WBLA). Part of this role was focussed on generating commercial revenue through collaborative approaches.
Caryn has also been heavily involved in the development of the Newport Commitment where she liaised with employers across the CCRSP priority sectors along with external partners and stakeholders. At present, Caryn is the lead for the CCRSP’s social media accounts, yet she is also enthusiastic in front of the screen and often commended for her relationship management skills and organisation of events.
