Huw Wilkinson

 

Huw is employed as the Regional Skills Partnership Manager for the Cardiff Capital Region Skills Partnership and leads on employer engagement across the Creative, Human Foundational Economy and Local Authority cluster groups.

 

Huw has been employed by Newport City Council for 13 years and has gained extensive experience of employability and skills provision through the management of local and regional programmes. These programmes have supported a range of individuals including young people in education who are at risk of becoming NEET, NEET young people aged 16-24 years old, economically inactive and unemployed adults and employed individuals with low skills.

 

Huw initially started with Newport City Council as an administrator and has since worked his way up through various roles to over the last few years managing the delivery of regional programmes. Huw has led on many successful bids to gain funding from the Welsh Government, BIG Lottery Fund, Department of Work and Pensions and European Social Fund. Most notably, Huw led on the development of bids in partnership with local organisations that were awarded approximately £15 million of European Funding to deliver four regional operations across South East Wales.

 

After graduating from Swansea University with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering (BSc), Huw has continued his personal and professional development by recently completing a level 5 project management apprenticeship.
