Melanie Godfrey
Melanie joined the Council from Welsh Government, where she held the role of Deputy Director of Education Business Planning and Governance. Working at Welsh Government since 2006, the main focus of her work was education and skills and included responsibility for delivering the reform of education in Wales, school improvement, the inspection of Education (Estyn) and investment in education infrastructure including the 21st Century Schools Programme.
Melanie has over 18 years of professional experience in the education and training sector, beginning her career at Newport County Borough Council after graduating from the University of Sussex. In 2002 she joined ELWa, the Assembly Sponsored Public Body for post-16 learning in Wales and held several roles there including strategic investment to support new teaching and delivery models in schools and colleges.
