Kristin Edwards

Kristin is employed as a Regional Skills Partnership Manager for the Cardiff Capital Region Skills Partnership and leads on employer engagement across the Construction & Built Environment, Advanced Manufacturing & Materials, FinTech and Compound Semiconductor cluster groups.

Kristin has worked mainly in the public sector since graduating. With an emphasis on communities, skills, training and employability throughout southeast Wales over the past twenty years, she has worked for housing associations, local authorities and managed several Welsh Government, ESF and UK Government funded programmes. Prior to taking up the position of Regional Skills Manager, Kristin oversaw the 2022-2025 Shared Prosperity Fund Programme for Newport City Council with an allocation of £33 million to share amongst community groups and key projects within Newport.

Kristin started with Newport City Council in 2018 for the Communities for Work programme and has worked in various roles for the local authority. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Kristin saw a shift in her work tasks and was posed the challenge of co-ordinating the food parcels and essential items to people who were shielding, vulnerable or were affected by a change in income across the city of Newport. This saw Kristin develop her project management and organisational skills, solving problems as they arose quickly and effectively.

Kristin is a key supporter of continued professional development and has undertaken a range of courses throughout her career since graduating. Most notably, these include, ILM level 4 (currently undertaking Level 5), Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector and PRINCE 2 (Foundation and Practitioner).
